What is the role of underwear in the first place?
Basically, the role of the undergarment is as follows:
-Absorbs sweat and sebum stains to keep your body clean
-Protects the body from temperature changes inside clothing
In other words…
If your underwear meets the criteria of being "not stuffy," "warm," and "soft to the touch," you can be sure to stay comfortable!
Why is "cotton underwear" good?
Here are some great things about cotton! You might be surprised at all the great things about it!
Absorbs sweat well!

Cotton fibers are very fine and highly absorbent, so they are good at absorbing sweat.
Less likely to get stuffy!

It has excellent breathability, so it is recommended for the sweaty season! It absorbs moisture from the inside and dissipates it to the outside, so it prevents stuffiness and controls the environment inside the clothing.
Resistant to washing!

Cotton is stronger when wet, which means it can withstand washing. It's especially useful in the summer when washing is more common!
Gentle on the skin

Cotton is a natural material with a unique feel to it. Since it's something you wear every day, the innerwear that comes into direct contact with your skin should be made of gentle materials!
Ecological materials

Cotton is a plant-derived, ecological material that is kind to the earth. When buried in soil, cotton is decomposed by microorganisms and returns to the soil.
Comfortable all year round

Cotton can be worn in any season and will help keep you in good temperature and humidity conditions all year round.

Are there different types of cotton?
The cotton thread used in underwear is made by twisting cotton fibers. The thinner and longer the fibers are, the better they feel to the touch and the higher quality and luxury they are considered to be.

grade | High-quality cotton It is thin, long and shiny. It is considered rare, accounting for only 8% of cotton. |
Medium cotton It accounts for about 90%, making up most cotton. |
Low grade cotton It's thick and short, but elastic. |
There is also this special cotton.
Organic Cotton
Organic cotton is produced on certified farms using organic farming methods that limit the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
Nextra Cotton®
Gunze's original material. By modifying the cellulose fibers of cotton at the nano level, the quality of cotton itself is enhanced, resulting in cotton with excellent moisture absorption, deodorizing, and stain removal properties, as well as reduced deformation and shrinkage.
Special spinning method: Compact spin
By using a special spinning method called "softly twisted compact spin", we are able to create a soft yarn with little fuzz, which makes it very gentle and soft against the skin.

Are there different ways to knit underwear?
There are various knitting styles for underwear depending on its purpose, and the fit and heat retention will differ depending on the knitting style.
Here, we will introduce some of the most representative ones.
Flat knit (plain stitch)

The needles pull the loops in the same direction, so all the loops are made on the front side, and all the loops are purl on the back side of the knitted fabric. It is light and thin, and is used for innerwear such as T-shirts that are more like outerwear.
Ribbon knitting (fried)

Because the knit and purl stitches are arranged alternately, the fabric stretches well in the horizontal direction and fits the body well. Underwear is often knitted in this way.
Double-sided knit (smooth)

Also known as double rib knitting, the knitted fabric has a dense structure on both the front and back, giving it a smooth surface with no undulations. As the fabric is thicker than milling, it is often used for autumn and winter underwear.
Are there any tips to keep your favorite underwear in good condition for a long time?
There are 4 points!
Wash as soon as possible

Even if it doesn't look dirty at first glance, underwear that has been worn all day will have absorbed sweat and dust.
The longer you leave the stains, the harder they will be to remove, so we recommend washing them as soon as possible after taking them off!
Adjust the shape and hang it out to dry

Cotton has the characteristic of shrinking easily when washed. First, carefully stretch the fabric vertically, where it is less likely to stretch, and then horizontally, where it is more likely to stretch, and then hang it out to dry, adjusting the shape. This will help prevent wrinkles and loss of shape.
Give it a few days off

After wearing your underwear, let it rest for a few days to allow the threads to recover. In other words, rather than wearing your favorite underwear every day, it will last longer if you have several pairs of underwear and rotate them.
Do not use bleach excessively

Chlorine bleach will whiten the fabric, but it will also remove the cotton wax (a natural wax that cotton naturally contains), which can damage the fabric and shorten its lifespan, so be careful.
If you use chlorine bleach, dissolve it thoroughly in lukewarm water or cold water before putting it in the laundry.
*Please be sure to check the washing instructions.
When is it time to replace it?
Unfortunately, even your favorite underwear, even the ones you take great care of, has a lifespan.
When the fabric becomes thinner and thinner, it's time to buy a new one. You may be tempted to put it off, thinking, "But it's not torn yet...", but the comfort and moisture absorption properties are declining. Say thank you to the item and say goodbye to it.
